I know, I know, it’s only early November, and trust me, I’m normally the first to object to the C word being uttered in my household before December 1st. However, even I have to acknowledge that in the world of books, that word normally makes an early appearance. How else would readers get their sticky mitts on their wintry, festive reads in time. So in the spirit of the forthcoming season here’s my round-up.
The festive reading list first appeared in 2016 and proved to be my most popular blog post, as the same happened last year, I’d be daft not to do it again.
The rules for inclusion are simple, basically they have to be books that I am likely to read myself. I’ve also excluded short stories and novellas – I’ve made the cut off point 150 pages. I’ve also imposed a price limit, not least because I’d be here until Christmas if I included everything. So nothing listed was over £1.99 as this post went to press.
The items appear in random order, so don’t apply value judgements to those appearing earlier, or later in the list. I could, I suppose, have put them in alphabetical author order but hey, I didn’t – I like to live dangerously for an ex librarian. The reality is, I’m juggling several wish lists on Amazon to try to keep track of last year’s titles, this year’s additions and one for possibles that need monitoring for price drops so I couldn’t cope with the added complication.
I appreciate there will be titles that enter the above criteria, just as some others will fall out, so expect an update at some stage.
So sit back, enjoy and please remember that Kindle prices change all the time, so just double-check the price before clicking.

So many books! I never get round to reading all mine for Xmas. I saw you mention juggling Amazon wish lists for price drops. I’ve used this site for some time. I track all my wish list books and get an email notification of price drops. https://uk.ereaderiq.com/

Thanks Karen, I do use ereaderiq for mine as well, but this needed a different type of juggling which worked better with Amazon this time as I can toggle books between lists.

It’s set at Christmas and I’d read it so it’s in 😊 There’s enough sugary festive stuff to balance it.

Wow, so many Christmas books! I’m just in the middle of deciding what I’d like to read in December so your post came at the perfect time for me. 🙂

Glad to be of service Hayley, You’d be surprised how many there are once you start looking – and these are just the bargain priced ones! Happy Reading!

That’s a lot of Christmas books! As someone with a November birthday, I can’t deal with Christmas before December – this is MY month! 😀

Thats a lot of reading! I’m trying to think of a Christmas related book I’ve read and I cant recall a single one beyond the obvious Christmas Carol

I like the idea of Christmas books, but my Christmas window is quite small (it starts in Dec for me) so I don’t read many. However I know they’re popular and the librarian in me still likes to collate for those that start early.

I try hard not to use the C word until Dec 1 but somehow you get forced into it

HA. I thought I had my brother in law on my side (he’s the arch Grinch) but what do I get today, an email with a suggestion of a present for my sister……

I’m one of those people who really struggle with Christmas. Bad memories, so always glad when it’s over. This is quite a list and I do appreciate a winter-themed read, so a few look like interesting reads.
Well done for compiling them all Jill.

Cheers Caryl, Christmas isn’t always an easy time, last year we didn’t do it at all – the world didn’t stop. If it didn’t seem to start earlier and earlier and be built up into some mythological time of peace, happiness and goodwill I’m sure it wouldn’t be half as bad. Survive yours as best you can, it’ll soon all be over for another year. xx

I agree Jill. Just call me Scrooge! So much pressure by largely commercial entities these days to enjoy when it can be a bad time for a lot of people. It does seem to start earlier and earlier. X

Not helped by me producing lists like this 😉

Well how could you not Jill. A lot of people love Christmas and the authors deserve a mention. It’s funny but when I’m surrounded by family on Christmas Day and I realise how lucky I am I wish it could go on longer! Perverse or what!

Thanks Meggy, you’d think I was a big Christmas lover as I do this every year, the truth is I could at times give the Grinch a run for his money! I know others love Christmas reading and I do actually enjoy putting this post together (it feeds my inner librarian). x

Goodness, I never knew there were so many Christmas titles. We could be reading Christmas books from now until you produce next year’s list! 🙂

If I really tried harder I’d probably be here until next Christmas producing next year’s list! I need self imposed restrictions to curb my enthusiasm. I’ve already found books to go in the next update.
